Learn about St. Baldrick&#8217;s Foundation and discover how you can help.<\/address>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nMore than 15 years ago, three NYC execs decided to make something meaningful of their business success. One day the light bulb switched on: They would shave their heads to raise funds for childhood cancer research. And thus, St. Baldrick\u2019s (no, not a real saint) Foundation was born.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DrdqGKBfoxI?rel=0\" height=\"385\" width=\"685\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The first event kicked off in March 2000, featuring 17 heads on the chopping block and a monetary goal of $17,000. By the end of the night, 19 folks left with exposed scalps, and $104,000 had been raised for childhood cancer research. The idea has since spiraled into a powerful movement, reaching all 50 states and nearly 30 countries. St. Baldrick\u2019s Foundation has inspired more than 5,500 head shaving events and more than 230,000 Shavees\u2122!<\/p>\n<h1>Join us in raising money to shave Andy\u2019s head!<\/h1>\n<p>Our Design Manager, Andy Dyer, is once again putting his hair on the line for kids\u2019 cancer research. His day of reckoning is March 7<sup>th<\/sup> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stbaldricks.org\/events\/mypage\/7\/2015\" target=\"_blank\">Helen Fitzgerald&#8217;s Irish Grill and Pub<\/a> from 10am-8pm. Andy\u2019s tenacious team, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stbaldricks.org\/teams\/mypage\/96165\/2015\" target=\"_blank\">T2 Chrome Domes<\/a>, will be joined by 61 other teams \u2013 totaling a whopping 455 participants. The goal for this particular event is $400,000. If a facetious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/324283889\/potato-salad\" target=\"_blank\">Kickstarter campaign for potato salad<\/a> can yield more than $50,000, we can pull just as hard for the kids.<\/p>\n<h1>What makes St. Baldrick\u2019s Foundation special?<\/h1>\n<p>There aren\u2019t many organizations fueling funding for childhood cancer <b><i>research<\/i><\/b>. As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stbaldricks.org\/filling-the-funding-gap\">one of the site pages<\/a> points out, most not-for-profit foundations pay for patient support groups, transportation to treatments, education, programs to boost morale \u2013 all excellent and necessary causes. But research is sorely needed. St. Baldrick\u2019s has always been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stbaldricks.org\/see-the-impact\" target=\"_blank\">transparent about the allocation<\/a> of money raised (more than $118 million!).<\/p>\n<p>Check out the site.
