{"id":2871,"date":"2015-04-23T18:31:13","date_gmt":"2015-04-23T18:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theswitch.us\/blog\/?p=2871"},"modified":"2015-04-30T14:53:52","modified_gmt":"2015-04-30T14:53:52","slug":"admin-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/switch.us\/blog\/admin-club\/","title":{"rendered":"The Admin Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<address>Amidst the chaos of onboarding paperwork, navigating our space and matching faces with names, our three new admins whipped up a post that pays tribute to a classic coming-of-age flick and reminds us that we are good for each other \u2013 differences and all.<\/address>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThere we were, gathered at the Switch communal kitchen table: three new administrative coordinators. Much like the characters in John Hughes\u2019 iconic film,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Breakfast_Club\" target=\"_blank\">The Breakfast Club<\/a><\/em>, we were strangers with vastly different backgrounds trying to peacefully co-exist.\u00a0Though its &#8220;OG&#8221; members first emerged thirty years ago (yes, 30!), <em>The Breakfast Club<\/em> has perpetuated the Brat Pack\u2019s legacy, reminding new generations of the similarities we share behind limiting stereotypes. As the three new admins congregated and swapped casual conversation, we couldn\u2019t help but form some stark parallels to the opening scenes at Shermer High School.<\/p>\n<p>Carol, \u201cThe Brain,\u201d came to Switch from a corporate background. A self-described introvert, Carol is finding the energy throughout Switch to be opening boundaries up and giving her a new approach at a new career.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"admin-club-the-brain\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theswitch.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/admin-club-the-brain.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And then there is Emily, channeling \u201cThe Criminal.\u201d \u00a0By no means is she a criminal in the usual sense, but she is a rebel who\u2019s not afraid to sport tattoos in the workplace and dares to go against the grain to set herself apart and find ways to make Switch even better.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"admin-club-the-criminal\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theswitch.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/admin-club-the-criminal.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, we have Nicole \u2013 not perfectly akin to Allison Reynold\u2019s \u201cThe Basketcase\u201d or Claire Standish\u2019s \u201cThe Princess,\u201d but she <i>could<\/i> play either on stage. Coming from a theater and event background, Nicole is no stranger to detailed planning and activation of events and projects.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"admin-club-princess-basketcase\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theswitch.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/admin-club-princess-basketcase.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As administrative coordinators, we have the fortune of being at the heart and core of the fundamentals at Switch. It\u2019s been wonderful to immediately experience the accessibility here. No person or topic is off-limits, and everyone has an open door. Our varying backgrounds are considered a commodity \u2013 and our insights, suggestions and thoughts have been encouraged from the start.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, we were brought together with our fellow team members to celebrate Administrative Assistant\u2019s Day \u2013 and what a treat!
