We are proud of our Design Manager for his heart of gold and commitment to kids’ cancer research. Learn about St. Baldrick’s Foundation and discover how you can help.

More than 15 years ago, three NYC execs decided to make something meaningful of their business success. One day the light bulb switched on: They would shave their heads to raise funds for childhood cancer research. And thus, St. Baldrick’s (no, not a real saint) Foundation was born.

The first event kicked off in March 2000, featuring 17 heads on the chopping block and a monetary goal of $17,000. By the end of the night, 19 folks left with exposed scalps, and $104,000 had been raised for childhood cancer research. The idea has since spiraled into a powerful movement, reaching all 50 states and nearly 30 countries. St. Baldrick’s Foundation has inspired more than 5,500 head shaving events and more than 230,000 Shavees™!

Join us in raising money to shave Andy’s head!

Our Design Manager, Andy Dyer, is once again putting his hair on the line for kids’ cancer research. His day of reckoning is March 7th at Helen Fitzgerald’s Irish Grill and Pub from 10am-8pm. Andy’s tenacious team, T2 Chrome Domes, will be joined by 61 other teams – totaling a whopping 455 participants. The goal for this particular event is $400,000. If a facetious Kickstarter campaign for potato salad can yield more than $50,000, we can pull just as hard for the kids.

What makes St. Baldrick’s Foundation special?

There aren’t many organizations fueling funding for childhood cancer research. As one of the site pages points out, most not-for-profit foundations pay for patient support groups, transportation to treatments, education, programs to boost morale – all excellent and necessary causes. But research is sorely needed. St. Baldrick’s has always been transparent about the allocation of money raised (more than $118 million!).

Check out the site. Share the cause. Mark March 7th on your calendar. And please consider donating to this cause that is so worthy of your money and time. We love Andy and his locks, but we really don’t want to see a hair on his head come March 8th.
