I listen to a little bit of everything, from Billy Joel’s greatest hits, old and new New Kids on the Block (not a joke), Hank, Willie and of course my favorite – Blake Shelton! Right now, I’m really digging the newest CD from the Royal Southern Brotherhood. The band features an old friend of mine and St. Louis native, Mike Zito. If you like blues, you definitely will want to check it out!

I enjoy watching Parts Unknown, with host Anthony Bourdain. You never really know what you’re going to get, as this show generally explores places you quite possibly would never even consider visiting. Bourdain visits some of the most fascinating places around the globe and adds his own commentary. You really get the feeling that you’re along for the ride, experiencing for the first time. That, for me, is the charm of the whole thing. Each episode takes viewers anywhere from big cities to small remote villages, focusing on local cultures and customs, history and current events, music, politics and social conditions, local celebrations, oddities, and more.
The common thread throughout, however, is food. Bourdain, a renowned chef himself, really delves into some interesting dishes prepared by local chefs, making each experience completely unique unto itself. The program weaves commentary and conversation into an art form. I always enjoy a cold beer while watching this show, and I think you will, too. Check it out.
