Growing up, my dad would make the kids listen to rock that he loved because he didn’t want us listening to “that crap pop music.” One of his favorite bands to play for us was The Allman Brothers Band – and I grew to love them too. When a friend suggested I listen to Tedeschi Trucks Band, I immediately fell in love. When I found out that one of the singers, Derek Trucks, was a former member of The Allman Brothers Band (when he was only 20!) and is the nephew of Butch Trucks, I fell even more in love with the band.
I could tell you everything else that’s amazing about him, but it would take up this entire page. Susan, the other vocalist (and Derek’s wife), has an unbelievable, unique voice; I’ve never heard another vocalist like her. I had the opportunity to see them live, and it was one of the best live performances I have ever seen. Watching Derek play slide guitar was absolutely incredible. Susan and Derek’s onstage chemistry is out of this world, and their band brings their A-game every time. Listening to their album doesn’t do them justice, but do yourself a favor and check them out. You won’t regret it.

Right now I am watching Season four of Homeland. I wasn’t sure how this season was going to play out after [spoiler alert!] one of the main characters was killed off last season, but it has been just as exciting as it was the first season. I am constantly on the edge of my seat.

In lieu of apps like Facebook and Instagram, I recently discovered instructables. It’s a place that lets you explore, document and share DIY creations. Basically it’s an online database providing tutorials on how to build, make, design and fix almost anything. It’s similar to Pinterest, only more targeted to the male audience.
