I’m a fan of all types of music and artists, and what I listen to depends on my mood or activity. If you’re along for the ride to Kentucky, then we’re turning up the volume on Meatloaf or Queen. Crunching numbers and working on spreadsheets is easier with Celtic melodies. Most recently a young artist has become one of my growing favorites that I can listen to anytime. Phillip Phillips is a young twenty-something folk-rock songwriter and performer with a unmistakable voice. I enjoy his country sound mixed with a touch of edginess. He’s a talented songwriter and guitarist who has a knack at conveying emotions and feelings through his music to the listener. I like it when an artist surprises me, and Phillips continually does that hit after hit.

From March to late October, I pretty much stick to watching baseball. My favorite team is the Cards, of course, but I’ll watch any game that is on. Last weekend we won two out of three games against the Brewers – which isn’t a sweep, but I’ll take it!

I’m currently reading two books. “I Wear the Black Hat: Grappling with Villains (Real and Imagined),” by Chuck Klosterman explores how society (and individuals) views, creates and even celebrates the villains amongst us.

“Fear and Loathing at Rolling Stone: The Essential Writing of Hunter S. Thompson,” is a selections of The Doctor’s best Rolling Stone articles, as well as some of the diabolical conversations between the writer and his editor, Jann Wenner. From politics to sports, Thompson unleashes his unabashed perspective on the best and worst of our society.
