Meet Amanda Fleming, our AP Specialist + Special Projects Accountant, who’s been part of the Switch family for nine years. Known around the office for her humor, kindness, and delightfully unique charm, Amanda is the kind of teammate who brings both laughter and light wherever she goes.
Looking back on her time at Switch, Amanda says she’s most proud of her work with SwitchLife. This passion project connects people and fosters an enthusiastic, united, and compassionate workplace. “Our company is so talented,” she says. “It’s impossible not to want to cheer everyone on!”
Outside of accounting spreadsheets, Amanda’s known for some fun quirks – like her childhood obsession with frogs (now just a “normal” love, she insists). She also finds joy in helping others, whether that’s answering questions, holding open doors, or simply being a friendly face. “I’m a helper,” she says, quoting her childhood hero Mr. Rogers.
When asked what advice she’d give her first-day self, Amanda laughs: “Things are never going to be ‘standard’ here, and that’s okay! Nine years later, and I’m still working on that one.”
Her favorite part of the job? The people, and the chance to lend a hand whenever she can. It’s a mindset she carries from a favorite piece of work advice: “You get paid the same no matter what, so do what you can to help the team – as long as it’s not illegal, immoral, or unethical.”
And in true Amanda fashion, her favorite life advice comes straight from a bumper sticker: “Be kind, we’re all idiots.”
When she’s not at Switch, Amanda loves jogging, crafting, traveling, and finding new adventures. As a kid, she dreamed of becoming Christa McAuliffe. Amanda says. “She was a teacher and an astronaut, and I wanted to be both, too.”
When it comes to Switch traditions, Amanda has her favorites. “I love In-DIP-endence Day and the Chili Cookoff. We definitely need more food competition days… I just really like food.”
Amanda’s goofiness, heart, and passion for connection make her a true embodiment of the Switch spirit, someone who reminds us all why our people matter most.
