At Switch, some people keep things running, while others quietly make everything possible. Dave Blankenship is one of those people.

As our IT System Administrator, he’s been a steady force on the team for over four years, jumping between departments, solving problems on the fly, and making sure all fires are put out as soon as possible. Dave joined Switch in November 2021 and quickly made an impact. In 2022, he earned Employee of the Quarter while working as Facility/Warehouse Lead.

When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Dave’s answer is simple: variety. He might be building a website, fixing tech issues, or helping set up for a live event. Dave enjoys working in those spaces where creativity and problem-solving come together. That approach continues even after work, as Dave is always creating, whether it’s playing guitar, bass, and piano, fixing and building things.

Fun fact about Dave is that he has loved musicals since he was a kid. My Fair Lady played on repeat more times than he can remember. Creativity runs through everything Dave does, from music to coding to hands-on projects. If you asked his friends to describe him, they’d say he’s kind, goofy, and tall, which the Switch team can agree on.

When he looks back on his journey, Dave shares two pieces of advice that keep him grounded:

  • “Believe in yourself, you’re better at this than you think.”
  • “Change the things you can and accept the things you can’t.”

This mindset helps Dave grow and makes him someone his teammates can always count on.

For Dave, it’s all about the people at Switch that make it different than other companies. His favorite Switch moment isn’t about one event, it’s simply enjoying any time the whole company comes together. “It sounds cliché,” he says, “but it really is like a family here.”

If you know Dave, you know that whether it’s a last-minute fix, a big idea, or something unexpected, he’s already on it.

And if you haven’t met him yet, chances are he’s helped you anyway.
